Trade Deadline Rumors

  • The Nationals have many players drawing interest, most notably Adam Dunn.  Dunn has been linked to the Rays, Yankees, Red Sox, Giants, and Padres.  The Nationals would like to keep Dunn through 2010, (he is a free agent at the end of this season), but if they can't agree on a extension the Nats may be forced to move them
  • Outfielder Josh Willingham is also drawing interest from teams like the Braves, Red Sox, and Giants.

  • The Red Sox are expressing interest in A's reliever Michael Wuertz.  The Red Sox have also made there own reliever Ramon Ramirez available.
  • The Dodgers are looking into Chicago's Ted Lilly.  The idea of Roy Oswalt to LA has not been abandoned but the Astros demands may be too steep for the Dodgers.  They have repeatedly asked for James Loney plus 2 other high level prospects.
  • Cody Ross will most likely not be traded during the season, due to Chris Coghlin's injury.  Ross has drawed interest from Atlanta, Boston, and New York.
  • Talks between the Red Sox and Blue Jays about Scott Downs have stalled.  The Phillies are among many other teams that have been linked to him.
  • The Yankees have dangled top prospect Jesus Montero in Joakim Soria talks.  Soria, the Royals closer would make a great set up man for Mo.  The Yankees are one of six teams Soria can reject a trade to.  Montero is rated no.6 prospect in the country by ESPN's Keith Law.

  • The Phillies and Rangers are interested in Christian Guzman.  He's hitting .287 and can play multiple positions.  However, the Phillies like Miguel Tejada more.  Think of Guzman as a backup plan.
