- First base coach Davey Lopes will not be returning to the team after the two sides couldn't come to a agreement on Lopes' next salary. Former manager Larry Bowa is being thought of as one of the leading candidates to replace Lopes.
- The Phillies claimed infielder Carlos Rivero from the Cleveland Indians. Rivero will turn 23 in late May. Rivero hit .232 with six home runs this past season in Double-A.
- J.C Romero's 4.5 million dollar option will not be picked up by the Phillies. They will most likely lean on Antonio Bastardo to fill that gap.
