The Orioles are shopping both utility man Ty Wigginton and third base men Miguel Tejada. The Phillies have been rumored to be interested in both. Both Wigginton and Tejada would serve as fill ins for the ailing Chase Utley.
According to Jeff Zrebiec of the Baltimore Sun the Orioles have been talking to the Rangers, Yankees, and Phillies about Ty Wigginton. It has also been noted that negotiations between the Orioles and Phillies have been going on for a few weeks. Wigginton was named to his first all star game just two days ago after having a great May and April, filling in for Brian Roberts. The Phillies would benefit from his versatility. Ty can cover left, third, second, and first. Until Polanco comes back Wiggy would most likely play third, but then slide to second once Polly comes back. No prospects have been named in these negotiations.
The Phillies also have mild interest in Miguel Tejada. He's only hitting .276, his lowest since 2001, back when he was with the A's. His bat definently isn't where it used to be, but he is a steady glove. Tejada would play third base and Polanco would slide to second. Tejada probably won't be as pricey as Wiggy, because not as many teams have inquired on him and his contract is higher. As well he just hasn't played as well as Ty.
