All that now stands in the way of a Roy Oswalt deal, is his no trade clause. The Astros accepted the Phillies package of only 3 players, after insisting on 4, a mlb ready high potential guy, 2 top of the line propects, and 1 mediocre prospect. Many sources close to both teams have said JA Happ is involved in this deal.
Oswalt has until the 31st to decide whether he wants to go to Philadelphia or not. During trade negotiations Oswalt wanted any team to pick up his 16 million dollar before he would waive his full no trade clause. Oswalt also said he did not want to play in Philly and would rather play in St.Louis.
Many scouts said the Astros and Oswalt would have to lower there demands if they wanted to get any deal done. Obviously the Astros have probably taken a lesser package to get Oswalt moved. Also they have agreed to eat some of his salary. Now we'll see if Oswalt does the same.
