Last night the Phillies lost a bizarre 16 inning game to the Houston Astros. The Phils used there entire bullpen up, so they had to send Kyle Kendrick out there. Kendrick has relief experience but was not used. The Astros had only Brandon Lyon to spare in there pen after using middle relief guys like Mark Melancon and Jeff Fulchino to pitch in multiple innings. But that was only the start.

Phillies Acquire Mike Sweeney
Posted by Brandon at 5:46 PM 0 commentsYesterday the Phils picked up former all-star, first basemen Mike Sweeney, off waivers from the Seattle Mariners. In return for Sweeney the Mariners will receive either a player to be named later, or cash considerations. Sweeney will definently help fill in at first base for the ailing Ryan Howard, along side Ross Gload.
