Minor Moves Around the League

APATT is here to catch you up on some minor news around the league.

 

The Nationals have released Chris Coste.  Coste, at age 37, underwent tommy john surgery this year.  He was claimed by the Nationals off waivers from the Mets.  Last year, as you may remember, Coste spent time with Philadelphia and Houston.  

• Dewayne Wise signed with the Toronto Blue Jays today, just 2 days after leaving Philadelphia.   
• The Cardinals signed Randy Winn to add some outfield depth.  Winn hit only .213 with New York in the beginning portion of this season.  He will receive 1.1 million from New York this year, and the league minimum from St.Louis. 
• The Mets designated Gary Matthews jr. for assignment.  The Mets called up Omir Santos and Ruben Tejada before todays afternoon game versus the Florida Marlins.  Luis Castillo was placed on the 15 day DL to make space for Tejada.  Matthews will still get 11 million from LA this year and 12 million next year. 
• The Orioles fired manager Dave Trembley.  The Orioles have the MLB's worst record.
