Phillies Win 3-2!!
Posted by Brandon at 8:57 PMAhh, a game where Philadelphia scores a run. After losing 3 straight games to the New York Mets, and not being able to score a run in those games, the Phillies pulled out a 3-2 win over another team from the division, the Marlins. Kyle Kendrick went a solid six. Then the Phils strong pen finished the game out.
Manuel pieced together a odd lineup to help break up the slump the Phils are in and to rest some starters. The shortstop Wilson Valdez was in the 2 spot. Ross Gload was playing right field and batting 6th. The big action starter in the 3rd inning when Florida put up 2. 1B Gaby Sanchez and LF Chris Coghlin scored on a throwing error by Kendrick himself. Other then that Kendrick pitched a nice game and didn't get rattled.
Then came the Phillies' bats arrived, finally. Raul Ibanez hit a pop fly that rolled just by CF Cameron Maybin. Ibanez was able to leg it into a triple. As the Sportscenter anchors would say,"He's got his PH Flyers". Raul knocked in the first run. In the following inning, Howard hit a blooper that tied the game.
Manuel called a nice game. The lineup being the first "nice call", but more importantly he called a key double steal. Victorino was safe at third and Valdez made it to second. In the following at bat Utley hit a grounder to Hanley Ramirez, the shortstop, that most likely would have been a double play ball, but instead scored the game winning run.
Roy Halladay will pitch tomorrow. He is 6-3 so far this season. The Phillies hope he can improve on his last performance where he gave up 8 earned runs.
