Phils beat D-Backs

Jayson Werth stole the spotlight today.  He hit two home runs in the Phils 3-2 win over the D-Backs.  Nelson Figueroa, who was spot starting due to JA Happ's injury, pitched 5 innings.  In which he allowed only 2 runs.  Chad Durbin pitched 2 innings following Nelson and then Jose Contreras and Ryan Madson pitched the final two innings.  Jose received the win making him 1-1 and Madson got his 4th save of the season.

Nelson Figueroa had a very strong outing today.  He only allowed 7 runners to reach base and two to pass home.  Figueroa has been a very nice pickup for Philadelphia.  Providing spot starts like these is just one of his many abilities.  This will probably be his only start right now because Joe Blanton is due back next week.  The Phillies would rather have him in the bullpen over Jamie Moyer or Kyle Kendrick.  Figueroa has a 2.92 ERA.  In tonight's game he gave up two runs on a Kelly Johnson home run.  The Phillies and recently acquired Nelson Figueroa are used to seeing Johnson.  Johnson played his entire career in Atlanta before moving to Arizona his past off season.  Figueroa has seen him to from being on the Mets.
Jayson Werth provided the other half of the highlight reel.  He hit two big flies today.  Werth has been slow with the big power numbers this season but he has gotten clutch hits and a lot of doubles from the games I've seen.  Werth's shots came in the second and in the ninth, when the game was on the line.  Raul Ibanez also smacked a home run off the young Ian Kennedy.
The Phillies got it done once again tonight as both teams feasted off the long ball.
