Phillies nearly get shutout

Yesterday the Phillies faced the Florida Marlins in the 2nd game of there 3 game series in Philadelphia.  In game 1 Roy Halladay dominated the Marlins giving up only 2 runs.  The offense tore up the Marlins pitching.  Chase Utley and company scored 8 runs.  However, Saturday nights game was not the same story.

In the 1st inning veteran starter Jamie Moyer gave up 5 to a aggressive Marlin offense. Jorge Cantu snagged a single and a a rbi in his first at bat like he has done many times this year already.  Then after a Dan Uggla single Ronny Paulino launched a 3 run shot to cap off Moyer's poor start.  Moyer who is normally good against the Marlins hung a lot of breaking balls in the first inning allowing the Marlins to tee off against him.

Werth knocked in the only run the Phils scored.

Moyer would then calm down and would go on to pitch 5 scoreless innings.  In those 5 he gave up only 1 hit.  It's ashame he couldn't start the night like that.  It wasn't all Moyer's fault.  The offense didn't do much.  Nolasco carried a no hitter into the bottom of the 4th.  The first run the Phillies scored was in the 9th inning where Jayson Werth tried to spark a late rally.  He smacked a line drive to left that carried out of the park.  Then Raul Ibanez grounded to the pitcher to end the game.  The bats just didn't arrive when they needed too. Ryan Howard left bases loaded in the 6th.  Placido Polanco and Raul Ibanez grounded into double plays with 2 men on base.  I hope this doesn't start a slump.  The Phillies have been red hot so far this season.
