Phillies lose heartbraker against Braves

Last night Kyle Kendrick finally had a good outing!  To bad Ryan Madson and Jose Contreras recked his night.  Kendrick pitched 8 shutout innings, Madson gave up 3 runs in 1 inning after that, and Contreras gave up the game winner in the 10th.  Before we get to the bad and ugly lets talk about some of the good things that happened yesterday.
Chase Utley definently was highlight reel worthy.  He was envolved in every Phillies scoring play.  Ryan Howard hit him in the top of the 4th.  Utley also had rbi's in the 5th and 7th.  Obviously Kyle Kendrick had a good game too.  He gave up only 4 hits in the game.  He was very effective even though he only had 2 strikeouts.  He got many ground balls allowing Kendrick to get double plays and limit the amount of batters he faced.  He only faced 28 of them.

Kendrick threw 8 scoreless innings

Now time for the bad.  That would be Jose Contreras.  In the top of the 10th the relief pitcher was sent in to keep the game tied.  He did just the opposite of that.  His first batter faced, Nate McClouth hit a towering shot out the the stadium to win the game for Atlanta.

And finally the ugly.  That would be closer Ryan Madson.  Mad dog gave up a 3 run lead after letting Troy Glaus and phenom Jason Heyward.  Madson just got rocked.  That was his first blown save of the season.  I hope that this doesn't become a habit.  I would get about sick of seeing to straight years in which the bullpen blows half the games.

Tonight Roy Halladay will face Tim Hudson.  Hopefully he can continue his streak and stop the Phillies streak of losing three straight.  Hudson has gone 2-1 so far this season.  Halladay has gone 3-0.
