ANDREW CARPENTER
What the Future holds: Andrew Carpenter who is also known as Drew Carpenter has a bright future ahead of him. With somewhat of a open bullpen by that I mean there are spots up for grabs Drew could see big league time coming his way soon. He has okay stuff and great fundamentals.
Entry to the Phillies: Carpenter was drafted in the second round of the 2006 Amateur Draft. After battling through many injuries in the minors he had a great first season in 2007. He was named a mid-season all-star in the FSL League when he was playing in Clearwater. After throwing two complete games he was named FSL League Pitcher of the Week in September of 2007. His first major league appearance was on August 28th, 2008 against the New York Mets. In that outing he pitched one scoreless inning. Shortly afterwards he was optioned back to Reading which is the Phils AA club.
Last Year: Last season Drew pitched in only 3 games one of which he started. In the combined 3 games he went 1-0 with a 11.12 ERA. Carpenter received his only win in a start against Washington. Carpenter might see more time in the majors this year but there's no guarantee. He's going to have to prove to Ruben Amaro and Charlie Manuel that he is worth a spot on the Phillies roster.
